If you love the classic Chicago deep-dish skillet vibe—rich tomato sauce, gooey melted cheese, and that thick, cozy comfort—this Ground Beef Deep-Dish Skillet is about to become your new favorite weeknight dinner. It has everything you crave from deep dish, but without making dough, waiting for the oven to heat forever, or spending an hour assembling a whole pizza.

Instead of layering a full pizza one step at a time, we do it the easy way: brown the ground beef until it’s deeply flavorful, simmer it in a thick pizza-style tomato sauce, then finish with a generous blanket of mozzarella that melts into a cheesy, bubbly top. The result tastes like “pizza night,” but it’s faster, less messy, and made in one pan—perfect for busy nights when you still want something comforting.

This skillet is also super flexible. You can keep it simple and serve it straight from the pan with a spoon, or make it extra hearty by stirring in cooked pasta (my favorite for that deep-dish feel) or rice. And if you want to level it up, add your favorite toppings—pepperoni slices, crushed red pepper, extra parmesan, or fresh basil for that final “pizzeria” touch.

FAQ

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes. Cook everything, cool it, store it, then reheat. For the best texture, add fresh cheese on top while reheating.

Pasta or rice—which is better?

Pasta gives the most “deep dish” vibe. Rice makes it more like a hearty bowl. Both work.

Can I make it low-carb?

Yes—swap the pasta/rice for cauliflower rice (drain well) or sautéed zucchini chunks.
